Technique & Creation Process
Structure & Material
Anina Putzi’s works are created through a multi-layered process that engages both visual and tactile senses. By combining spatula techniques, texture pastes, and various pigments, she develops a dynamic surface that constantly reveals new facets through changes in light and perspective. The deliberate application and manipulation of each layer introduce complexity, infusing the composition with depth and movement.
Metallic pigments—such as gold, silver, or shimmering hues—are integrated into individual layers and respond to incoming light, causing the piece to appear in constant flux depending on the viewer’s angle. Structures are intentionally built, overlapped, and partially uncovered, establishing a dialogue between concealment and revelation.

The Layering Process
Each piece begins with a stable foundational structure that serves as its base. Multiple layers of paint are then applied—and at times reworked—using brushes, spatulas, and other tools. Through drying phases between layers, a harmonious balance emerges between chance and control.
Line work plays a crucial role: it is intentionally placed—sometimes as fine, precise accents, other times as an organic trace that merges with the texture. In some cases, lines are only reinforced during the final stage to strategically guide the composition.
Color Concepts & Series
The color palette varies from series to series and follows a carefully considered approach. In Mystical Paths, natural tones like beige and sand prevail, symbolizing stability and grounding. Soft greens introduce a gentle movement into the artwork, representing growth and vitality. Metallic highlights in gold and silver amplify the light effect, creating a shifting interplay between depth and lightness.
Each piece adheres to this principle: colors are not chosen randomly but are strategically applied to achieve the desired atmosphere. The combination of texture, pigments, and light reflection makes every painting a unique composition that continually evolves and interacts with its surroundings.
